Charisma is an intangible energy, a strongly felt presence that is one of the most powerful non-verbal forms of persuasion and influence.
Max Weber, a famous German sociologist, called it the third form of authority, after law and tradition…that people could be persuaded simply by the personality of another person.
Charisma is a unique quality that makes people feel immediately connected to you, comfortable with you and like you… even when they barely know you.
Charismatic people throughout history have possessed the ability to capture the imagination of others and inspire them to be supportive and devoted to a cause.
2. Who in public life has charisma?
President Obama is usually the first person who comes to mind; and even if people don't like him personally or politically, they still think he has charisma. In contrast to Obama, but still considered very charismatic, is Former Governor and Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin. John F. Kennedy had it, Nixon didn't (which is what hurt him so badly in the first televised debates). Reagan had it, the Bushes didn't.
Charismatic people have an enormous advantage when persuading others and usually choose to become mass influencers, politicians, entertainers, motivational speakers, ministers or salespeople/promoters.
3. What do charismatic people know how to do that the rest of the world doesn't?
Charismatic people are just as sensitive to the emotions of the people around them as they are to their own emotions. They have expanded their center to include all types of people, rather than being self-centered.

4. What is the value of having charisma?
It's a tremendous tool for attracting more of what we want in our lives-more business/clients, a new job, a relationship…a sense of deeper connection to others. Charismatic people have an enormous advantage when influencing others to see things their way.
5. Is charisma something anyone can learn or acquire?
Everyone can take their charisma up a notch, no matter what their starting point. Charismatic people don't have to be especially great looking or beautiful…their inner confidence creates an outer radiance and commanding presence that makes us perceive them as much more physically attractive than they actually are.
